Hey! Quick note: I ran my group program asynchronously this summer and it was a huge hit. I’d love to have you join me for the fall! If you’ve ever wanted my insight on your personal wardrobe or shopping struggles, but aren’t interested in 1:1 work, this program is it. Here’s the link to sign up for the waitlist (due to the overwhelming response over the summer, I’ll be limiting the group to 15 members) and here’s a link to a video of what the spring participants had to say.
Despite sharing my outfits for the world to see, most of the time, I don’t feel like I’m nailing it. Which is fine, sometimes we do and sometimes we don’t and life goes on regardless. But pulling together images for this post made me feel quite pleased, which was lovely. Keep in mind, these are 13 outfits over about 8 weeks, so if you’re getting 1-2 outfits a week that you like, you’re doing great! Apologies as always for a mirror that I can’t keep clean before another child licks themself in the mirror.
I’m pretty sure I wore this combo in the last outfit post as well, it’s so easy. I’ll be linking all items or similar ones for paid subscribers at the end of the post.
I wore this outfit to my birthday dinner with friends and loved it, although the heels are way too high for me. But! green snakeskin!! Maybe one of my best thrift finds ever, these are Stuart Weitzman and I got them for $6 😱 This entire outfit is secondhand: the jeans are men’s, also thrifted, I bought the Rachel Comey top secondhand on my recent trip to Portland with my friend Rachel, and the bag is secondhand Hyer Goods. When I think about it, this outfit would have been so expensive had I bought everything at retail (top ~$400, vintage jeans ~$100, shoes ~$400, bag ~$300 = $1200), but it cost me about 1/6 of that, around $210. Not bad for high quality, useful, wearable items.
I felt very artist-who-lives-in-the-Hudson-Valley in this outfit. Another all secondhand outfit: same jeans as above, secondhand top via a local resale shop, secondhand Birks via Poshmark. I made the necklace from chewbeads.
Every couple of months I get an urge for something new to mix in, which I think is completely human, the desire for variety. When this happens, I either look to Pinterest for inspiration to come up with new combos from stuff I already have, or I buy something secondhand. I went to a local resale shop and bought this dress for $15. I’m wearing it with old Target clogs and a necklace I made out of teething beads.
It was fun to interpret my favorite denim on denim for summer. The shirt is very old Aritzia and I found the tote bag at an antique mall in Portland. Ring is from one of my favorite woman jewelry artists, Tiro Tiro.
Same same but different. Summer uniform in action: tee+button down+bike shorts+sandals.
Trying to wear the Rachel Comey top more casually. Took my kids to the art museum in this.
These Everlane barrel pants were one of my big spring purchases, paired here with old Target clogs and a thrifted Vince tank.
Another super basic outfit, but I like it! Thrifted black tee, gifted Universal Standard linen shorts, Birks, (dirty 😬) Uniqlo bag.
This jumpsuit is such a happy story. I purchased this (from Ali Golden) in 2019 and loved it. Enter menopause and pandemic and it no longer fit. As is my habit, I searched for it secondhand for FIVE YEARS and just found it (3 sizes up) this summer. I’m so happy to be reunited 🤗
This dress was another favorite summer purchase and I absolutely love it, which makes me that much more frustrated to tell you that the size chart for this company is bonkers. They use a weight+height determination for size, which makes no sense since we know that weight does not correlate with body shape or size! It reminds me of those old (or maybe they’re still around?) pantyhose size charts.
Here’s a more comprehesive review.
This was the technical end of summer, the first day of school (but of course not the end of summer weather), and I felt very work-y. Old Target sweater, same Everlane pants and of course my signature 💅 red Birks.
