Before we launch into talking about fun new stuff for fall, I want to make sure you know about my Making Space group program. I ran it as an asynchronous program over the summer and I had more people than ever sign up. Everyone loved the new format.

Here’s the breakdown of what you’ll get:

  • a 30 page workbook

  • 12+ pre-recorded videos

  • access to an active community

  • weekly check-ins and exercises to complete

  • answers to your specific questions each week in a recorded video. There is no live call you have to attend.

  • just to put faces to names, we will do two live calls over the course of the 8 weeks. If you can make them, great, if not, no worries.

This version of Making Space is a fit for you if:

  • You’re used to communicating in online discussion groups like Slack, Discord, or even group texts.

  • You can’t make a regularly scheduled weekly commitment.

  • You’ve wanted to take Making Space in the past, but the scheduled time never worked for you.

  • You want to get clarity around your style, edit your closet, and learn how to shop mindfully.

In the past, this program was $797. I’ve always wanted to try a different payment structure, so the course will be $797 for those who can subsidize another participant’s fee, $597 if you can only pay for yourself, and $397 if you wouldn’t be financially able to participate at the current price (I can split the fee into two payments). I also have a DIY version available for $197. More info and get on the waitlist here. We start September 20th.

On to shopping! As always with these posts, I never want to influence you to buy something you hadn’t thought you needed before reading this post. Think about what’s on your shopping list and do your best to be thoughtful about what would add to your life and what would take away before you buy.

how to shop intentionally for a new season: fall edition

To be honest, I am not one of those excited-for-the-hint-of-fall-in-the-air people. I’m more of a there’s-a-hint-of-fall-in-the-air-oh-no-my-seasonal-affective-disorder-is-coming kind of person. As of the writing of this post, I haven’t given one thought to fall yet. I love that there’s been entirely new writing about fall wardrobes on Substack this year,

There are also many ways to add to your wardrobe on a tight budget, and I’ve linked the articles below for some ideas.

style AMA: shopping on a budget
Q: I would love to start from scratch with my wardrobe but I can’t afford a spree. Do you have any tips on transitioning into a more authentic style when budgeting is a factor? Yes, I have tips. I have so many tips I don’t know where to start. It’s interesting, budget and money is something that I think about and work around a lot in regards to my personal wardrobe (you don’t normally see me sharing multi-hundred dollar items), but I hadn’t realized I don’t talk about it much on social media. So, thanks for the question and letting me share all of this…

Do you get value from these newsletters? Are you someone who’s followed along for years? I’d be so grateful if you considered becoming a paid subscriber. Growing my paid subscriber base allows me to spend more time on these posts and allows me to work on getting guests for future interviews (stay tuned!). Upgrading your subscription gives you access to my monthly shopping finds, the ability to ask questions for my style AMA (ask me anything) posts, and the chance to join in on the conversation in the comments…

This month, I thought it would be fun to put together outfits with a few of my picks so you can see how I’d style the pieces. Let me know if you like this!

Sweater: Universal Standard, 00-40, $128, use code INFS-AMBDACY for 10% off (US sent me this sweater to try in black and it is so soft and also substantial)/Pants: Finally, a new take on corduroy! Anthropologie, $138, XXS-3X/Hat: Madewell via Shopbop, $21/Shoes: Crocs, $64, I want these to be the fall version of my red Birks, but I'm scared they're too high!

Sweater: Anthropologie, $128, XXS-3X/Pants: Anthropologie, $120, 0-26, sizes in this color are limited but these pants have been successful for many clients/Earrings: Madewell, $38/Shoes: Dankso, $140

Top: Universal Standard, $150, 00-40, use code INFS-AMBDACY for 10% off/Jeans, Madewell: $128, 00-26W, also in petite, tall, and taller (we should talk about how Madewell’s extended sizes have dwindled to almost nothing, but it’s too depressing)/Shoes: Anthropologie, $150 (unfortunately, unavailable in wide)/Necklace, Betsy and Iya, $67, use code MINDFULCLOSET for 11% off(only 18", so I'd recommend a necklace extender for most people)

These items are just a taste of what I’ve included in my shopping picks this month. Access to those links is a paid subscriber benefit. As a paid subscriber, in addition to supporting the hours per week I spend on this newsletter and the ability to see those shopping links, you also get the ability to comment (we have an incredible community here) on regular posts, weekly discussion threads, access to style story guests’ recommendations, and the ability to submit questions for my AMA (ask me anything) posts.

If you’re reading on a mobile device, annoyingly Substack doesn’t allow you to upgrade your subscription in the app, but you can go to https://dacygillespie.substack.com/subscribe in your web browser to manage your subscription.

If you just feel lost when it comes to shopping, check out my Stress Free Shopping Workshop. Use code SUBSTACK20 for 20% off for that one and all of my mini courses.

On to the links! (FYI, these links are affiliate links and might earn me a small commission if you purchase something through them.)
