I think it’s a pretty rare woman whose body doesn’t fluctuate. Some bodies change sizes throughout a day (Lottie Drynan’s built a huge following normalizing dressing for bloating), some throughout a month, some throughout the seasons, and some over a lifetime.

Even if we’re able to accept this biological fact of nature (and for most of us, that will be a lifelong journey of its own), it doesn’t help us with practical issues when our clothes don’t fit.

In general, I feel pretty grateful that we live in an era of stretch fabrics. Nothing groundbreaking, but here are a few other tips:

  • Some of us were told that wearing elastic waists meant we were either old or giving up. I’ve also had clients tell me that as a plus size person, they felt that most of the options out there being elastic-waisted made them feel less than, as if they weren’t allowed a real waistband because of the size of their body.
