After sharing my personal experience with spending on clothes and before we get into the experts’ advice next week, I thought I’d share a bit about how I advise my clients to think about money and clothes.
Clothing is a basic human need. I’ll take it a step further and say that I believe that having clothes that fit is a necessity, not a luxury (TLDR: if your clothes are too small, you feel bad about yourself, and when you feel bad about yourself, you’re less likely to be able to help others).
One of the most common reasons my clients have trouble getting dressed is that they actually don’t have what they need. When we get rid of what they don’t like or doesn’t fit, they can see that what they’re actually left with is very little.
