About
Hi! I’m Dacy. If you’re new to any of my work, here’s my elevator pitch: I provide style help to women who’ve always felt uncomfortable in their clothes and who want to uncover their authentic style. We process and release the societal constructs they’ve been operating under through online personal styling services. I use principles of intuitive eating and Health At Every Size in my work. My clients learn to listen to what it is they really want to wear and look like, without the influence of their mothers, society, or influencers.
This newsletter is a place where we question everything about style and then where we get to choose which pieces of it all we want to keep and which we want to let go of. We’ll also talk about diet culture, intuitive eating, mental health, parenting, and just general shopping tips and recommendations.
I want us to reject the concept of flattering as it is commonly used (i.e. clothing used to make your body look smaller).
I want us to reject fashion rules we’ve been taught that just uphold the patriarchy and white supremacy.
I want us to prioritize our own comfort over being pleasing to others’ eyes.
I want us to listen to our intuition and our bodies and hear what they’re telling us they need.
I want to give us permission to wear what’s “unflattering” if it brings us joy and makes us feel good in our bodies.
If that all sounds good to you, you’re in the right place.
Here’s what you can expect:
Free content will include:
One new essay per month on topics ranging from how white supremacy shows up in our clothes to agism in style.
One essay "from the vault" of the past ten years of writing the mindful closet blog, such as how to shop mindfully and how your body isn’t wrong, your clothes just weren’t made for you.
Occasional interviews with other women who are navigating these topics while developing their own personal style.
Paid content includes:
All of the above
Ability to join the community with commenting privileges

As far as personal details go, I’m a former classical musician turned personal stylist (although I’m still looking for a better term for what I do).
I’m an introvert, a highly-sensitive person, an INFJ, a Human Design projector, an empath, and a Cancer. While all that means that I’m constantly overwhelmed by emotion and sensory overload, it also means that I’m super-intuitive about seeing what’s going on with other people and super-empathetic, which comes in handy when clients have to get vulnerable with me.
I’m on a mission to help women stop wasting time and energy on getting dressed because they’re trying to conform into a way of dressing or buying that doesn’t work for them, and actually, has actively been working to make them feel bad about themselves.
I got here because of years of experimentation and frustration figuring out my own wardrobe. After buying hundreds of items I didn’t need or didn’t like. Years of feeling like I didn’t measure up, and didn’t have the “right” thing. I finally paid attention to my inner voice and when it was screaming that it was uncomfortable, and started only wearing the things that made it sigh in relief.
I’ve been married for almost 13 years to someone I’ve known for 24 years. It is certainly not all sunshine and rainbows but even though we are in and out of couples therapy often (or perhaps *because* we are), I’m very happy with my relationship. A lot of my bandwidth is taken up by parenting, which has been a difficult path for me (see: highly sensitive introvert). We have two children, ages 10 and 6. I’m an “old” mom because most of the moms around me are not 47 with a 6 year old.
I’ve lived in Mobile AL, Portland OR, Oberlin OH, Houston TX, NYC, Miami FL, and have now been in St. Louis MO for the last 18 (😳) years, longer than anywhere.
I’m glad you’re here with me ❤️
